D800E: 15min quick test

15min with a Nikon D800E and a couple of good lenses

Mid-June I got the chance to play a little bit with a D800E that a friend rented for a special shoot. With the D800E came a very nice wide angle lens, the “Zeiss Distagon T* 2.8/21mm”, beautifully made and a pleasure to handle. I had brought my 105mm macro VR to complete the test.
I just went on the parking roof, and took a few pics of the Chicago skyline, and made some quick handheld panoramas.
The resolution of the camera is incredible. Having good lenses coupled to this very advanced body helped a lot. I included a few cropped version to show you the great resolution.

Two panoramas and a large mosaic made handheld very quickly: one very wide panorama with the Zeiss Distagon 21mm (55 megapixel), another panorama with the 105mm (133 megapixel), and a mosaic (several rows of pictures) of the Sears (hmm Willis) tower (168 megapixel). This camera will let generate a huge amount of pixel very quickly (plan to upgrade your RAM, fast internal storage and backup configurations).
