Asakusa and Sensoji Temple walkabout
The day started with the mandatory visit to the very famous Asakusa neighborhood and its Sensoji temple. Before entering the Sensoji market, the visitor going out of the subway is welcome by the giant “new Tokyo tower” so called “Tokyo Sky Tree” now and the nearby Asahi headquarters with its famous buildings.
Nakamise-dōri and the market on temple ground are always fun, plenty of trinkets and lots of fresh cooked sweets. You cannot resist the smells and not buy something.
The Sensō-ji temple is actually the oldest temple in Tokyo, but rebuilt after destruction WWII, and very popular by tourists and Tokyo residents.
